Fifth Grade

hello fifth grade

Meet our Teachers!

Brittany Black

Mrs. Black is so excited to be at Rustburg Elementary! Her love for her students is her favorite thing about teaching. After graduating from Liberty University, she was drawn in by the peaceful and quiet living that the Lynchburg area has to offer which was a big change from her busy upbringing in Maryland. She is coming from Lynchburg City schools where she taught for 4 years.

Mrs. Black is married to her college sweetheart of 6 years and loves to spend time with her family, friends, and stays active in her church. She also loves to spoil her nieces and nephews. When she isn’t teaching, or spending time with loved ones, she is probably planning her next trip to try and visit all of the major league baseball stadiums.

Betsy Burnett
Miss Burnett has been a part of the Campbell County community her whole life! Both of her parents work in Campbell County Public schools and she attended CCPS for grades K-12. She went on to receive her Bachelors degree from Lynchburg College in 2016. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and volunteering at her church. She loves being able to work in Campbell County and to give back to the community that helped shape her into the person she is today.

Kelly Cyrus
Miss Cyrus is from Appomattox, Virginia (Go Raiders!) but has worked in Campbell County at Rustburg Elementary School for the past 7 years (Go Bulldogs!) She grew up as a TK (teacher's kid). After achieving a degree in music, she feels God led her into the field of education as well!  She is a 2x alumna of Liberty University (Go Flames!)  She tries to keep her love of music alive in her classroom to keep the learning process fun!  In her spare time, she absolutely loves to read, write, travel, volunteer in her church, and spend time with family and friends. She considers it her calling and a sincere privilege to invest in our wonderful students here at RES!
