Third Grade

hello third grade

Meet our Teachers!
welcome to 3rd grade

Ms. Deal is a graduate of Longwood University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and is currently earning a Master's Degree in Reading, Literacy, and Learning from her alma mater. Ms. Deal grew up in Amherst, Virginia, and now lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, moving closer to both work and church. This will be Ms. Deal's second year of teaching 3rd grade. In her free time, Ms. Deal enjoys reading, visiting coffee shops, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She is humbled to serve at RES and watch a new class of resilient and intelligent students accomplish their goals

Mrs. Dearden is a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and the University of Lynchburg, formerly Lynchburg College.  She has been married to her wonderful husband, Shaun, for 29 years and has two awesome adult sons, Michael and Daniel.  She loves reading, backpacking, hiking and anything “in the woods!”  While she is new to Rustburg Elementary School this year, she has fifteen years of teaching and administrative experience.  She has taught 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade, so she has a pretty good understanding of where her students are going educationally!  Mrs. Dearden believes that building strong relationships with her students is critical to their academic and social growth, so that is always a top priority.  She also views education as a partnership between teachers, students and families and “we’re all in this together!”  So, let’s buckle up for an amazing “new and different” year together where The Sky's The Limit at Rustburg Elementary School!

Mrs. Gordon is a graduate of Rustburg High School and Liberty University.  She has been a third grade teacher for the past 29 years, so you could say that she thinks third graders are pretty awesome! She began her teaching career at J.J. Fray Elementary, the same school that she attended as a child. She believes it is a privilege to give back to her own community through teaching.  She and her husband Mike have been married for almost 3 years. They have a blended family of 4 children that range in age from 23 to 16.  Faith and family are two things that are important to her.  She enjoys walking and reading a good book when she has free time.
