Jamie Rice

Mr. Rice was born in Maryland but grew up on the side of a mountain on the outskirts of the small town of Romney, WV. 

He attended Liberty University earning not only a degree in Music Education, but also a minor in Psychology, and eventually a master’s in Educational Leadership.   Mr. Rice is starting his 28th year of teaching music, all at Rustburg Elementary School beginning when it was JJ Fray.  The only exception was when he taught 4th grade during the pandemic.  He is married to his wife, Jessica, and has 3 adult children. One daughter is in medical school, a son who is in college to be a music director, his twin sister who is a nursing assistant and in school to become a nurse, and a younger son that currently attends RES.  In his free time, Mr. Rice enjoys spending time with his family, watching the Commanders and Orioles sports teams, and doing genealogy research. 

When people ask what he does for work, he responds: ‘I teach life through music!’
